So in order to get the names and emails, you need to direct traffic to the squeeze page to collect them.

I will share on the traffic generation to the squeeze page in later post, for today it is getting to know what makes a good squeeze page.

1. A good headline to get the readers interested in why giving their name and email, it is best to sell them the problem on the headline, it will get their attention most of the time. You might even want to try testing different headlines for a period of time, so you will know which are the headline that will draw their attention.
2. List out benefits that will help them when they give you their names and emails.
3. Give rewards like a free ebook or report on the niche you are in. This way you will increase the chances of them giving their name and email to you.
4. A time flame for taking action. This will also increase your chances also as the fear of time limit impose.
5. You must assure the readers that you will not sell or misuse the reader’s name and email.
6. There has got to have a privacy policy. It will further assure them that you will not misuse their name and emails.

If you are able to use a video that is no more than 3 minutes long, stating on the problems, the benefits and what they will receive if they give their name and email. It has been known video has been converting more sales and lead generation, as it involves most of human senses.

A quick description on how double opt-in work. A reader may choose to give his/her name and email to the marketer, after that an email confirmation will be send to the subscriber, this is where the reader must confirm on joining the list. If the reader did not click the confirmation link then the name and email that he /she has given will not be taken into account into the list. After the confirmation, if the subscriber complain that you spam them, you will be okay as the subscriber has confirmation to opt-in to your mailing list.

So this is my thoughts on these two types of opt-in….

Single opt-in is fast and easy, you can straight away send the subscriber email follow up or send them to your product or the affiliate product, easily for the subscriber and for us. Single opt-in is best use for squeeze page, because you might use Pay Per Click, article submission, video marketing to drive the traffic to the squeeze page. You see they are basically using their own money (my money as well) and time to drive traffic to the squeeze page. So do you want to decrease chances of increasing your list by using double opt- in? I will not do that!

You might ask, what if the subscriber complain that you have spam them. Then the question for you is that did you send them irrelevant content or those that is not ethic? If you have not done those then you would not be afraid of the spam laws, because you did not break them. Remember that as long as you provide your subscribers content that is what they want or relevant content, you will be good.

Of course I will still use double opt-in, I will use them when my leads buys my product, making them give me more of their information and confirm their opt-in. Here I will separate them into a different campaign, where they are under the buyers not the browsers. So you see that they will be a group that will be very well taken care of, because they are buyers, the chances they will buy again is higher than those that did not buy at all.

So whatever you use single or double opt-in, depends on what you want. If you are giving them a free eBook, then maybe you can use double opt-in. But I will still use single, to make it easy for the subscribers. What will you do?
