Google Adwords has been one of the main tool to drive traffic/ generate sales in your website. And it has been known that since the start of Google Adwords, the price of competitive keywords has been increasing, so will this trend continue for years to come?

I will say that the price will continue to increase, as more and more people are using Google Adwords to promote their products or services. The maximum number of PPC ads shown in the search page is 10 only, and if there are 20 companies or persons wanting to advertise on the same keyword, then only the top ten highest bidders can only show on the 1st page of the search page. So do you think the other bidders will increase their bids in order to show their ads to the searchers? Only for those that have a lot of marketing budget, will be able to show their ads.

Is there solutions to decrease the cost per keyword? Yes there are…

1) Have a good quality score for your Adwords campagin: When your quality score is good or great for your PPC campagin, your cost per click will surely decrease. As I have explain previously in the how to increase quality score in Google Adwords. Click on the link to find out more.

2) Use other PPC networks: Using Yahoo Marketing and Mircosoft AdCenter are another great way to reach out to the searchers as well. The two PPC networks are definitely lower in cost than Google Adwords, as they are younger than Google, and not that competitive than Google. Another reason is that more online users use Google to search, and as of last year there is 70% online users use Google, which is an increase in percentage.

If you are using keywords like “make money online”, “forex trading”, or “internet marketing”, the cost may go as high as even USD $4 per keyword. But these keywords are not the most expensive ones, there are some that went as high as USD $70.25. Below are the top ten most expensive keywords in Google Adwords:

a) student consolidation 70.25
b) peritoneal mesothelioma 69.27
c) federal consolidation loan 64.56
d) federal loan consolidation 64.56
e) student loan consolidation 59.97
f) ca lemon law 59.91
g) mesotheleoma 59.26
h) car donation 58.8
i) car donation 58.8
j) indiana law lemon 58.21
k) consolidate loan student 57.48

Well of course there are also other consideration that can decrease the cost per click, like geo targeting. But this can be done if you are only targeting in a particular country or countries. As you can see that the search term (keywords) above can be targeted in a particular country. It also shows that there are a lot of advertisers promoting at the same time.

That will be all for today’s internet marketing strategy for Pay Per Click, please share or comment on this post. To your success, cheers!

For those who use Pay Per Click marketing in Adwords, we will always look at the quality score of the ad group. What do I mean by that? In Google Adwords, a new campaign is set up for a new affiliate or your own product you are promoting. Google will always look at the number of impressions of the keyword, the click through rate (CTR) of the keyword, relevance of the ad and the landing page for the ad group, in order to determine the price you pay for the click through.

The above few areas are also the ones that affect the quality score of the ad group.

Remember that in internet marketing, you are doing a business. The moment you use pay per click marketing to market the product you are promoting, it is a marketing cost which must have a Return Of Investment (ROI). As you expect to make a profit using pay per click marketing.

Why you must care about the quality score is that it will mean whether you will pay more for the click or lesser, which is one of the main concern for all business owners is to decrease the cost of the business. So let’s get down to how to decrease the cost per click, or increase the quality score should I say.

First the impression of the keyword means how many people is searching in Google for that keyword, of course this means only for exact match keywords. So you are using broad or phase match keyword, how do you decrease the impression that is not relevant or related to the audiences you are targeting. By doing extensive research on the negative keywords, you will take away most of the unwanted audiences. For more about PPC negative keywords part 1, and PPC negative keywords part 2. Click on the links.

The Click Through Rate (CTR) is where you really need to take note of, because if the one keyword has a thosand impression and only a click, that means it has a CTR of 0.01% which is very bad. The normal market average is 1%, but if you can get 4% and above you are very good. Always aim for at least 5% CTR, as if you use what I share, you will be getting average of 5 ~ 8%.

The relevancy of the ad or the ad copy is one that will draw the searcher to click on the ad, because you have the keyword that he is looking for, and the ad has the benefit of the product he wants. Sometimes you can be catchy in the ads, which is also good, because you are different from the other PPC ads, and it will also catch the searcher’s eyes as well.

The landing page has to have the keywords in the content of the webpage. This way, Google will take that you are relevant with the search, thus increasing your quality score. Of course you have write for a human being to read not to the search engine robots. Be natural in your writing.

With the above 4 ways, you are able to greatly decrease your cost per click which means your quality score is good. Let me do some simple calculation for you. Take for example that the max cost per click for the keyword is USD $0.50, and you did not do the above 4 ways. Your cost per click daily will most likely be around USD $0.45, and you have 20 clicks, that total $9 for that keyword.

If you use the 4 ways, your cost per click will be around USD $0.25, and 20 clicks daily. Total will be USD $5 for that keyword daily. if you use the keyword for a year, you will save ($3,285 – $1,825 =) $1,460. That is a lot of money for the cost. I must confess to you that I have some keywords going as low as $0.05 one keyword phrase.

Try it, you have nothing to lose and it works very well for me. That will be all for today’s internet marketing strategy, feel free to comment and share with others. Success for you, cheers!

Today will be a short post, as I realised that a lot of people kept asking me where you learn Google Adwords, who is your mentor etc… I do have a mentor and he will be releasing a PPC eBook soon, I am very excited to heard from him. The other thing is that there are also other eBooks or courses which you can learn Google Adwords from. But the best thing is always free from Google.

Introducing Google Adwords Learning Center, here is where you will learn all of the Adwords you want to know. And best of all, if you are able to master what it is teaching, it will be easier for you to know how Yahoo and MSN PPC works.

There are two types of lessons, first is the Multimedia lesson and the second is the Text lesson. Multimedia lesson provides audio and video for you to see. If you are tired of reading, then try Multimedia lesson. If you prefer the old school of reading type, then text lesson will be for you.

Lastly there is a small test at the end of each small chapter, that is the coolest part in the whole Adwords Learning Center. The test is to test what you have just learn in the Google Adwords Learning Center. You have to do the test, it helps in understanding. If you are able to put in like two hour a day, you will be able to learn Google Adwords in a week.

That will be all for today’s internet marketing strategy, do share with us if you have any other thing I miss out. Or if you feel that this is what some of your friends will find it useful, bookmark this post.

I have heard some great news that PPC Classroom 2.0 will be reopening soon. Well I must say that this is one home study course that you MUST have if you are interested in PPC (pay per click). A lot of PPC strategies I use, came from PPC Classroom.

PPC Classroom is created by Anik Singal. I had the PPC Classroom (in physical) when it first came out back in 2007, it was expensive back then. But the knowledge that I have from the package is worth a ton of money for being in affiliate marketing. The truth is that95% of people do not make it in internet marketing, and most of the time when they first started out will use affiliate marketing as their starting internet marketing walk. well I was doing that when I first started, and is still doing it.

So the next nearest thing to promote their affiliate products are to use PPC to drive traffic to your website or the merchant’s website. What they do not know is that PPC is a double edged sword that can help you if you know how to use it, and it will bleed you also, if you do not know how to use it. You may be asking, “I can use SEO (search engine optimization) to promote the affiliate products!”. You can do that also when you are new to internet marketing, but your result will not be fast. As SEO will take time to become top 10 for a particular keywords, you will also want to know what are the other actual keywords that will lead the searchers to buying the affiliate products.

So the next question you might be asking is “How much is PPC Classroom 2.0?“, I have insider news that its going to be F.R.E.E. Yes you are seeing it right, FREE!

Right now, they are getting ready to launch it on 24th Feb 2009. But they are going to accept those who are interested in the course. All you need to do is to give them your name and email.

What are you waiting for? Its free for grabs and its going to end 7 ~ 10 days later after it launches. I have submitted my name and email already. Take action now, there is nothing for you to lost. The Pre-Launch is on 1st Feb 2008, tomorrow.

I Want PPC ClassRoom 2.0!  <<==

To continue from my last post, how to determine your negative keywords? First is to use manual thinking, think of things that are related to the keyword but not going to end up having a sale.

Let’s focus on the keyword “Ipod Classic 120GB” as an example again, what will be the negative keywords then? I will guess ‘Nano’, ’shuffle’, ‘touch’, ’speakers’, etc. As you can see, after input these negative keywords, my click through rate will greatly increase. These are the keywords that are not going to get sale from selling Ipod Classic 120GB.

The second way to get the negative keywords, is from https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal. This website belongs to Google and is a part of Adwords, under tools section. Before you start researching for your negative keywords, you need to have the setting right.

Select Language

Select the Country you are promoting the product in

Key in the Keyword “Ipod”

Lastly key in the alphabet shown in the box

All you need to do now is to hit the “Get Keywords Idea” box, it will show you all the related keywords. Here you need to select negative under “Match Type”.

In the previous post, I shared that PPC Marketing requires three different types of keywords. Well I miss out that there is one more, it is negative keywords.

Before I go further, I shared that with broad, phrase and exact keywords in PPC, you will be able to market to the world. But it means that you will also get traffic that are not in the buying mode. Why do I say that? Let’s take for example that I am promoting “Ipod Classic 120GB ” for Amazon. So the keywords most properly be “Ipod Classic 120GB” or “Ipod”, using broad, phrase and exact match. But this will also invite the unwanted people who are looking for other Ipod things.

This is where negative keywords comes in and save the day. Not just that your click through rate will increase, your cost per click will decrease, your ad position will also increase, and your quality score will also be increase. Wow! This is a very good thing. By doing one thing right, results in multiple positive outcome.

Out of the three major PPC Search Engine, only Google and MSN offer negative keywords. We will look at Google today since its the biggest search engine. How do we apply negative keywords? Let’s take the example of keyword “Ipod” again, your negative keywords will be -nano, -touch etc. This case it will be zoom down to “Ipod Classic 120GB” only. Of course there are a lot more negative keywords to add in, these two are the few examples only.

I will share with you more on negative keywords tomorrow, do comment on the the above post if you have anything to add. As I am sharing on internet marketing strategy with all the people in the world. Cheers and be successful online.

Google Adwords is the most sophisticated PPC management program and the best of all the three major search engine. That is why if you want to go into Yahoo PPC, you must go into Google Adwords first, then into Yahoo PPC or MSN PPC. WHY?

The Adwords program is not just way advance than the other two, but also it offers a very great keyword compilation of the past campaign. And do not forget that 60% of the online users use Google to search. So if you are able to perform a great keyword ch with click through rate of 5% and above. It means you are doing the right thing and Google rewards you, with low cost per click. Why?

Google’s main theme is relevancy, so if your website is selling golf product, and your Adwords ads showing you are selling dog food. You are not relevant with what you are selling, it has bridge the searcher’s trust and Google’s code of honor. Google will then tell you to increase your max cost per click to maybe USD$5.00. Google is telling you that you are not relevant and wasting their ads space.

The next thing to do is to find out your selling keywords. Selling keywords means words like “buy Sony laptop model A-1″, the customer knows what he/she is buying and wants to buy now. I will explain the buying keywords more the next time. So this will greatly decrease your impression and increase your click through rate, thus reducing marketing cost.

Of course not forgetting to use broad and phrase match, to further reducing the unwanted impressions. Because using broad match for the above keyword, will generate a lot of unwanted keywords. Trust me if you want to reduce cost per click.

I will see you tomorrow, do comment on the the above post if you have anything to add. As I am sharing on internet marketing strategy with all the people in the world. Cheers and be successful online.

A lot of people bleed using PPC to promote their products or services, because they do not know the difference between broad match, phrase match, exact match and negative match. Below are the meaning:

Broad match is the default setting for all keywords. All searches made using your keyword (in any order or combination) might display your ad.

Phrase match narrows your reach by requiring the words to appear in that exact order.

Exact match further narrows your reach by showing your ad when the exact phrase is used in the search — without any other words before, between, or after.

Negative match eliminates searched phrases you don’t want your ad to appear on, such as c.heap or free.

These four things will determine your PPC marketing, to greatly increase in targeted customers thus getting good click through rate, which will result in paying less in pay per click.

Do you realize that this is two of the basis in doing business? Cutting cost and increasing sales. Let me explain:

A lot of beginner will use broad match only to reach the world, but what they did is that it allow all the people who key in the keyword, for example ‘golf’ to appear even if you sell only golf balls. It means directing unnecessary traffic or not targeted traffic to your product. Thus increasing in impression, lowering click through rate.

All the above, I am talking on Adwords.

Well there is a site that you can learn about PPC. Learn more.
